This is a satiny frosted glass vase made by the Consolidated Glass Co. as part of their Martele line. After viewing Art Moderne Lalique originals at the 1925 Paris Exposition Internationale des Arts, Consolidated decided to enter the art glass market due to slowed growth in their traditional lamp market. The Martele line was designed by Reuben Haley in 1926 and was advertised as consisting of reproductions of Lalique glass, although only the Lovebird pattern was a copy - all of the other patterns were originals. This vase has a raised floral pattern that are usually characterized as poppies. It measures 8 3/4 in height with a diameter of about 8 at its widest. It is in very good condition with only a tiny shallow nibble type chip to the base, negligible and could easily be sanded down if you wished, although it really is not necessary. This is a beautiful vase - wonderful addition to a Consolidated glass collection!
